L-Arginine Memory Claims: What the HoneyPezil Label Shows
L-arginine in HoneyPezil is two label lines: 200 mg of L-arginine base and 200 mg of L-arginine AKG 2:1 extract per capsule, at most 400 mg of arginine ingredients together. We found no memory trial of those amounts. Arginine can interact with nitrates, erection medicines, blood pressure medicine and blood thinners, so ask a pharmacist first.

On the label01
What is L-arginine in HoneyPezil?
L-arginine is an amino acid, and HoneyPezil prints it on two lines: L-arginine (base) 200 mg and L-arginine AKG 2:1 extract 200 mg.
The body uses arginine to build proteins and to make nitric oxide, a molecule that relaxes blood vessels (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). It is sold as a "blood flow" amino acid, but the label makes no such claim. The honest total is at most 400 mg of arginine ingredients (200 base plus 200 AKG).
| Name on the label | L-Arginine (base) |
|---|---|
| What it is | Amino acid the body uses to make proteins and nitric oxide |
| Place on the label | 3 of 7 lines, in label order |
| Amount per 1-capsule serving | 200 mg per capsule as L-arginine base |
| Daily Value | Not established |
| Amount used in research | 1,500 mg a day of a different compound (arginine silicate) in a company-funded 2016 test of mental flexibility; 4 g a day or more in blood pressure trials; the NIH says up to 9 g a day appears safe for short periods |
| How the label compares | Base plus AKG add up to at most 400 mg of arginine ingredients: at least 3.75 times below 1,500 mg and 10 times below 4,000 mg |
| Strength of evidence | No trial of plain arginine for memory in healthy adults was found. A small 2018 trial in older adults with heart risk found no help on a thinking test, and its authors called arginine worse for vessel and executive function |
| Marketed or traditional use | Sold as a nitric oxide, 'blood flow' amino acid |
| Main caution | Mayo lists nausea, belly pain, diarrhea, bloating, gout, allergy and asthma worsening. Arginine can lower blood pressure and blood sugar. Do not combine it with nitrates or erection medicines, blood thinners or potassium-sparing diuretics without a doctor. Not recommended after a heart attack. |
| Name on the label | L-Arginine AKG 2:1 Extract |
|---|---|
| What it is | Arginine alpha-ketoglutarate (AAKG), a salt of arginine. The label prints '2:1' but not how much of the 200 mg is arginine |
| Place on the label | 4 of 7 lines, in label order |
| Amount per 1-capsule serving | 200 mg per capsule; the arginine share is not printed |
| Daily Value | Not established |
| Amount used in research | 12,000 mg a day of an AAKG product for 7 days in an exercise blood flow trial (no change from placebo) |
| How the label compares | At least 60 times below 12,000 mg a day |
| Strength of evidence | No memory trial of AAKG was found; the one blood flow trial at a large dose found no change from placebo |
| Marketed or traditional use | Sold for 'pump' and blood flow |
| Main caution | Same cautions as arginine: blood pressure, blood sugar, nitrates and erection medicines, blood thinners. Stomach upset is the most common complaint at gram doses. |

The research02
Does L-arginine help memory?
No study shows that L-arginine at the HoneyPezil amounts helps memory. We found no memory trial of 200 mg, 400 mg or the formula.
Two small trials come closest, and they point different ways. In healthy, active men, 1,500 mg a day of arginine silicate, a branded compound, went with faster Trail Making B times. The maker paid for the work (Kalman 2016, Arginine silicate and mental tests). HoneyPezil lists no arginine silicate.
A 2018 crossover trial gave arginine or placebo for 4 days to 19 older adults with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure. Arginine did not help the same thinking test, and the authors reported worse vessel and executive function (Beckman 2018, Arginine and executive function in older adults). It is one small, short trial. It is not proof of harm, but it is a fair reason to ask a doctor first.
NIA says no vitamin or supplement is currently recommended for preventing cognitive decline (NIA, Cognitive health and older adults). The Global Council on Brain Health could not endorse any brain-health supplement (Global Council on Brain Health, Brain health supplements).
Lasting memory trouble deserves a doctor first: when to see one.
The dose gap03
How much L-arginine is in HoneyPezil compared with studies?
At most 400 mg per capsule, which is at least 3.75 times below the 1,500 mg used in the arginine silicate test and 10 times below the 4 g a day in blood pressure trials.
In 22 blood pressure trials, arginine moved readings a few points, mostly at 4 g a day or more. None tested 400 mg (Shiraseb 2022, Arginine and blood pressure). One 7-day trial used 12,000 mg a day of an AAKG product, and blood flow matched placebo (Willoughby 2011, AAKG 12 g a day and blood flow). The AKG line is at least 60 times smaller.
Compare every line on the label vs studies page.
The AKG line04
What is L-arginine AKG?
L-arginine AKG, also written AAKG, is a salt that joins arginine to alpha-ketoglutarate. The label prints "2:1 extract" and 200 mg for the line.
The label does not say what share of the 200 mg is arginine, and we will not guess. The only AAKG trial we found used a large dose and had no memory outcome.

What are the L-arginine side effects and drug interactions?
Mayo Clinic lists nausea, belly pain, diarrhea, bloating, gout, headache, allergy and worse asthma, mostly at gram doses. For many adults the larger risk is how it mixes with medicines (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).
| If you take | Why to ask |
|---|---|
| Nitrates, or sildenafil or tadalafil | Blood pressure can fall too low (StatPearls, Nitrates and erection medicines) |
| Blood pressure medicine | Arginine can add to the drop |
| Blood thinners, antiplatelets | Bleeding risk may rise |
| Diabetes medicine | Blood sugar may fall |
| Potassium-sparing diuretics | Potassium may climb |
Arginine is not recommended after a recent heart attack. A trial of 153 people stopped after 6 deaths in the arginine group (Schulman 2006, Arginine after a heart attack). Chest pain or other heart attack signs mean call 911.
Keep taking prescribed medicine exactly as directed. Never stop or change it because of a supplement. Show the bottle to your prescriber or pharmacist.
Before you decide06
Should you take HoneyPezil for its L-arginine?
That is a choice for you and your doctor. A fair strength: every arginine amount is printed. The weak spots: no product trial, and amounts far below those studied.
- Bring the bottle to your pharmacist if you take a medicine in the table above.
- Report bad reactions to the FDA through MedWatch (FDA, MedWatch).

FAQ07
HoneyPezil questions people ask
How much L-arginine is in one HoneyPezil capsule?
One capsule lists L-arginine (base) 200 mg and L-arginine AKG 2:1 extract 200 mg. The label does not print the arginine share of the AKG line, so the total is at most 400 mg of arginine ingredients.
Does HoneyPezil L-arginine help memory?
No study tested it. The label says "Advanced Memory Support*" with an asterisk to the FDA statement. We found no memory trial of 200 or 400 mg, and NIA recommends no supplement for preventing cognitive decline.
What are the side effects of L-arginine?
Mayo Clinic lists nausea, belly pain, diarrhea, bloating, gout, headache, allergic reactions and worse asthma. These are mainly reported at larger doses.
Can I take L-arginine with blood pressure medicine?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist first. Arginine can add to the drop from blood pressure medicine, nitrates and erection medicines. Keep taking prescribed medicine as directed.
Is the arginine in HoneyPezil the same as arginine silicate?
No. The arginine silicate test used a branded compound at 1,500 mg, paid for by its maker. HoneyPezil lists base and AKG only.
What does AKG mean in L-arginine AKG?
AKG stands for alpha-ketoglutarate. L-arginine AKG, also called AAKG, is arginine joined to it as a salt. The label prints 200 mg for the line but not the arginine share.
