Do memory supplements really work? A plain read of the research
Do memory supplements really work? For the ingredients we checked, the research is thin or mixed. Ginkgo showed no conclusive benefit, B vitamins did not help thinking in adults 50 and older, and beta-alanine studies for exercise used 100 to 150 times what one HoneyPezil capsule holds.

The short answer01
Do memory supplements really work?
Memory supplements have not been shown to work in the research we read, and what exists is thin, mixed or about something else.
Many studies of these ingredients measured sports performance or blood pressure, not memory. A result in one area does not carry over to another. Studies in healthy young people also do not tell us about an older adult worried about forgetfulness.
Below is a plain read, ingredient by ingredient, using only sources we could check.
Ingredient by ingredient02
What does the research say about common memory supplement ingredients?
The research on common memory ingredients is limited: ginkgo and B vitamins did not show a clear benefit, and amino acids were mostly tested for exercise.
| Ingredient | What the source says |
|---|---|
| Ginkgo | No conclusive evidence it prevents or slows decline (NCCIH, Supplements and cognitive function) |
| Curcumin | Evidence limited and inconsistent (NCCIH, Supplements and cognitive function) |
| B6, B12, folic acid | Short-term use did not help thinking in adults 50 and older (NCCIH, Supplements and cognitive function) |
| Arginine | Small, short studies; one in older adults found no help (Beckman 2018, Arginine and executive function in older adults) |
| Citrulline | Raises blood arginine; exercise findings inconsistent (Gonzalez and Trexler 2020, Citrulline review) |
| Beta-alanine | Thinking evidence called inconclusive (Ostfeld and Hoffman 2023, Beta-alanine review) |
NIA sums it up: at this time, no vitamin or supplement is recommended for preventing cognitive decline (NIA, Cognitive health and older adults).
The HoneyPezil label03
How do HoneyPezil's amounts compare with the research?
HoneyPezil's amounts are far below the amounts in the studies we found, and no study tested them.
Per capsule the label lists at most 400 mg of arginine ingredients, at most 200 mg of citrulline ingredients and 40 mg of beta alanine. Sports research on beta-alanine uses 4 to 6 g a day, about 100 to 150 times more (Trexler 2015, ISSN position stand: Beta-alanine). Citrulline safety studies went up to 6 g a day (NIH ODS, Exercise and athletic performance supplements).
The label also lists niacin 7.5 mg NE and calcium 18 mg. One observational study linked niacin from food, not capsules, with slower decline in older adults (Morris 2004, Dietary niacin and cognitive decline). The ladder shows each amount against a reference point.

What should you do if you are worried about your memory?
See a doctor if memory trouble lasts or gets in the way of daily life; many causes are treatable (Mayo Clinic, Memory loss: when to seek help).
Bring a family member or friend and a list of every medicine and supplement you take. NIA lists repeating questions, getting lost and trouble following recipes or directions as signs to talk to a doctor (NIA, Memory problems, forgetfulness and aging).
If you still want to try a supplement, ask a doctor or pharmacist first, mainly with nitrates, erection medicines, or blood pressure, diabetes or blood thinner medicine. Keep taking prescribed medicine as directed. For chest pain, stroke signs or sudden confusion, call 911. The FDA has not evaluated the label's statements.
FAQ05
HoneyPezil questions people ask
What is the most researched ingredient for memory?
Among those we checked, ginkgo and the B vitamins were covered by NCCIH, which found no conclusive benefit for ginkgo and no help from B vitamins for thinking. Studies of arginine and citrulline are mostly about exercise.
Can a supplement replace a doctor's visit for memory problems?
No. NCCIH says not to use supplements as a reason to postpone seeing a provider about memory loss.
Why do supplement studies disagree?
Studies differ in dose, length, who took part and what was measured. A result in healthy young men does not carry over to older adults.

Ready to try HoneyPezil?
Check your medicines first, especially nitrates, erection medicines and blood pressure medicine, then pick a pack. One bottle is 30 days at 1 capsule a day; 3 bottles cover 90 days and 6 cover 180. A supplement does not replace a doctor's visit for memory trouble that lasts.
